Vocal music is a genre of music performed by one or more singers, with or without instrumental accompaniment, in which singing (i.e. vocal performance) provides the main focus of the piece.


It is believed that people must have started singing by the nature’s inspiration that is to say – chirping of birds, flow of water etc. as a pass time, to relax oneself but today it ranges from being a hobby to a profession. Lets’ get an insight into it,


This is for all the voices which create magic and to all the ears which enjoy the music.

 Human voice consists of sound made by human beings using the vocal cords. Lungs produce airflow to the vocal cords which vibrate and fine tune the articulators (tongue, palate, cheek, lungs etc.) which articulate and filter the sound, that is to say air is the fuel for voice.

Where you practice can be as important to your vocal workout as how much you practice. Make sure you practice in a place where you feel free to sing out — without worry as to who might be listening.

Singing at gigs, recording sessions or band rehearsals should not be considered practice. You must also make time for yourself to sing without the pressure of having to sound good. Give yourself the luxury of taking chances and making mistakes during your own, private workout.singers2

When you practice, do so slowly and give yourself the time to relax before your workout — don’t rush! Haste is the #1 enemy of meaningful vocalizing.

If you vocalize for a half and hour everyday, you’ll be surprised at how much more ready to sing you’ll always be.

Always train yourself to be able to sing one or two notes higher than required in your performances. This insurance will allow you to relax on stage.

 Vocal music is probably the oldest form of music, since it does not require any instrument besides the human voice. All musical cultures have some form of vocal music. Let us restrict ourselves to India in this post.

    Nice post…
    Very colourful…
    Tips seem to be very comfortable to fine tune your singing but will depend majorly on how you make use of them.
    I’ll try out..
    But looks like non vocalists like me have to find out a deserted place for practise otherwise I might just end up disturbing neighbours!!! 🙂
